EIE377 Add/Alter Field Training Detachment (FTD)

Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska

Silver Mountain Construction was the prime contractor on this project for the demolition, renovation, and construction of a new addition to Building 4280 for the F-35A FTD Facility. This facility is required to support the maintainer training requirements as associated with the beddown of the F-35A fighter aircraft and includes areas for functional hands-on maintenance training, classroom training, a data center, administrative space for the instructors and managers, a break area, and building support spaces.

The 24,000-square-foot addition further allows space for instructor-led training, self-paced study via interactive workstations, and mock-ups of various F-35A components. Major components of the building are a full working bridge crane for the F-35A engine maintenance, a full mockup for ejector seat training, and a room dedicated to flexible linear-shaped charges (FLSC) to separate the canopy during ejection. The 4,000-square-foot renovation of Building 4280 has storage, mechanical room, labs, shops, and vocational training areas. The project had exterior improvements for new parking, site lighting, head bold heaters, landscaping, and signage.
