North Wind Launches LBYD Federal

North Wind Infrastructure & Technology Name Changed

Idaho Falls, ID – North Wind Group is proud to announce that as of December 27, 2021, North Wind Infrastructure & Technology, LLC (NWI&T), engineering company within the North Wind Group, changed its name to LBYD Federal, LLC.

“NWI&T was established in 2016 as we saw the value and need to expand our engineering offerings. Building off the 2020 merger with LBYD Engineers, we found synergies within engineering in the federal space,” said Christopher P. Leichtweis, North Wind President/CEO. “We’re excited about the appointment of Kevin Brown as the President and General Manager of LBYD Federal and look forward to seeing the growth that LBYD Federal will have under his leadership,” he continued.

Kevin Brown, PE, SE, LEED AP has over 22 years of structural design experience, and has the knowledge and understanding of all levels of project delivery. His design experience includes engineering building structures for numerous federal, commercial and industrial facilities.

Over the past 12 years, Mr. Brown has concentrated much of his engineering expertise on federal projects and is fluent in the design of projects that incorporate progressive collapse and Anti-Terrorism Force Protection. His team focuses on delivery types such as Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build for a variety of federal contractors and government agencies.

Mr. Brown is a graduate of Auburn University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He is a LEED Accredited Professional and a licensed professional engineer in over 25 states and a licensed structural engineer in the states of Illinois and Arizona. Mr. Brown is an active member of the American Concrete Institute, American Institute of Steel Construction, Structural Engineers Association of Alabama, and the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) and the Design Build Institute of America (DBIA).

The federal portion of LBYD Engineers and NWI&T are now one company (LBYD Federal) under Mr. Brown’s leadership. The new logo was designed to merge both the history of LBYD Engineers with the North Wind brand and colors. “I am excited for this new opportunity and look forward leading and growing LBYD Federal with expertise and innovation for our clients,” said Kevin Brown, LBYD Federal President.

LBYD Federal will continue to provide the same offerings previously provided as NWI&T. These include engineering services such as civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering support for a multitude of federal and other government clients and federal contractors. Project types include the design of new facilities as well as the renovation of existing facilities, site infrastructure design, protective design, master planning, radiological laboratories, facility infrastructure services, industrial wastewater treatment systems, environmental remediation systems (i.e., soil and groundwater treatment), road design, vapor extraction treatment systems, landfill cells, waste repositories and capping systems, and other industrial process systems and utilities.
