This design-build Category-II nuclear facility is used for the retrieval and excavation of radioactive and mixed wastes. North Wind Constructions Services erected a 135-ft x 240-ft tensioned membrane fabric structure and 88-ft x 135-ft air lock in conformance with national nuclear QA standards.
Mechanical and HVAC systems, electrical and lighting systems, and gloveboxes were installed to handle fissile material and associated monitoring systems. This project was the Department of Energy American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA)-funded.
The AMC will be a $50 million-dollar state-of-the-art innovation hub for manufacturing, fostering modern industrial practices, advancing new technologies, and training the future manufacturing workforce focusing on chemical and materials manufacturing.
