North Wind Promotes from Within in Southeast

North Wind recently promoted Joe Wood and Allison Walker to Southeast Regional Manager and Deputy Southeast Regional Manager, respectively.

Joe Wood has 32 years of experience in the environmental and threat and risk assessment fields and has served in several roles in the East Tennessee area including Deputy Regional Manager, Deputy Director, Program Manager, Project Manager and he has managed several highly complex projects. He has extensive Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) experience, including 3 years supporting the program as the programmatic Project Engineer for 11 sites that include St. Louis Downtown Site (SLDA), St. Louis Airport Site (SLAPS), Alba Craft, Maywood, and multiple vicinity properties. Currently providing technical and managerial oversight of 12 regional North Wind operations, including the DuPont, Luckey, and DuPont FUSRAP sites.

Previously, Joe has held senior leadership positions with Tetra Tech, SAIC, Bechtel National and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He is a registered Professional Engineer and accredited Project Management Professional. Joe has a B.S. and M.S. in Environmental Engineering.  Joe has been a resident of Oak Ridge since 1991 where he has served on the Oak Ridge Environmental Quality Advisor Board, the United Way of Anderson County Board of Directors, and been an active volunteer with numerous non-profit and charitable organizations.

Allison Walker has over two decades of experience in business processes, marketing, communications, contract administration, project management and customer relations. She manages the twenty person technical staff in the Greenville and Aiken, SC offices who support approximately 50 active projects for commercial, state and federal government clients. She has experience as a Project Manager with the US Corps of Engineers, US Air Force, and Department of Energy.

Allison has managed over $6M in task orders under the Environmental Support Services contract at the DOE Savannah River Site, which include 4 fulltime onsite staff, several in-situ bioremediation tasks, task and safety oversight, geoprobe injections for groundwater treatment, groundwater modeling and 3D visualization, DOECAP audits, soil and groundwater modeling, and regulatory documents for multiple sites. Allison also has experience with writing Work Plans, Community Relations Plans, and Qualified Recycling Plans.

Allison is a registered Project Management Professional (PMP). Allison has a B.A. in English from Wake Forest University, and an MBA from Oregon State University.

Joe will oversee operations within the Southeastern region, which includes offices in Knoxville, Greenville, Aiken, Huntsville, and Jacksonville. He is currently evaluating expansion to other locations as well as adding staff to the existing offices to support the growth opportunities with the DOE and DOD. Allison will support Joe and the region’s offices by identifying and resolving staffing and resource needs, supporting projects in the other four regions with shared resources, tracking financial performance, and identifying growth opportunities within the region.

Additionally, the Knoxville, TN office recently moved and Greenville, SC is moving soon, into larger locations to support additional staff and company growth.
