North Wind welcomes Don Laney as a Business Development Manager for North Wind Group. After 23 years of military service, Mr. Laney seamlessly transitioned as a federal contractor and brings over two decades of very successful senior executive leadership experience.
In 2011, Mr. Laney joined Akima serving as President, Vice President, and Joint Venture Chair leading multiple 8(a), small, large, and joint venture lines of business. His customers included the Department of Energy (National Nuclear Security Administration and Office of Science), Department of Defense, Department of State, Department of Commerce, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). During this 11-year tenure, Mr. Laney was a significant contributor in the holding company’s growth from a $750M to $1.8B.
Prior to that, he served for 8 years in various senior leadership positions of the Cubic Corporation Omega Training Division (OTD) providing base operations, logistics, and training in support of our Warfighters. As a prime contractor on the Conus Support Base Services (CSBS) IDIQ, OTD won 90%+ of awarded task orders with a significant presence at 10 Army Installations.
Mr. Laney has a Master’s in Management‒Leadership and Organization Effectiveness from Troy University and a Bachelor’s in Resource Management from Troy University. He has his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute and is a Six Sigma Black Belt.
