North Wind, Inc., Awarded Remedial Action Contract of EPA Superfund Site – Project featured in article series
North Wind, Incorporated was awarded a recent contract from EA Engineering, Science and Technology, Inc., to perform excavation and restoration on the North Ridge Estates Superfund Site Operable Unit 1 in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The project is being featured by the Herald and News in a series of articles, the first appearing on Sunday, July 17, 2016.

“North Wind is proud to be a part of this important cleanup project,” Kimberley Kearney, Project Manager.
North Wind’s portion of the project is scheduled to be completed over three separate construction seasons, starting in the summer of 2016 and ending in late fall of 2018, with an estimated total contract value of $23 million. The construction crews are not able to work in the winter months when the ground is frozen.
Each construction season, the North Wind, Inc. team will perform services including clearing and grubbing, excavation, hauling and placement of approximately 320,000 cubic yards of impacted soil to on-site repositories. This amount of soil will fill more than 123 Olympic sized swimming pools. These repositories will be capped and covered in a way that is fully protective of human health.The team will also demolish, remove and reconstruct residential ancillary structures, such as decks, septic systems, sheds, driveways and sidewalks.
EA Engineering, Science and Technology, Inc. (EA), holds an Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Response Action Contract 3 (RAC 3) contract with EPA Region 9 to support remedial response, enforcement oversight and non-time critical removal activities.
