Gov. Kay Ivey Appoints Greg Robinson of LBYD Engineers to the State of Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
North Wind is proud to announce that Greg Robinson, a Senior Principal Engineer at LBYD Engineers in Birmingham, Alabama, has been appointed by Governor Kay Ivey to the State of Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors, effective immediately.
Mr. Robinson will fill the position previously held by Mr. Marc Barter and will serve on the Board alongside four professional engineers, two professional land surveyors and two public members.
As a newly appointed Board member, Mr. Robinson will serve a five-year term as a representative and advocate for professional engineers across the State. The Board’s mission includes “helping to safeguard health, life, safety, welfare and property, by providing for the licensing of persons and regulation of the practices of engineering and land surveying.”
Mr. Robinson states, “Appointment to the Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors is a high point in my career and taken with a great deal of responsibility. The opportunity to serve my fellow engineers and promote the profession of engineering is an opportunity that I did not expect. More importantly, I view this as an opportunity to assist young engineers in meeting their career goal of becoming a Professional Engineer.”
Mr. Robinson has been in the industry for over 37 years, serving as a Senior Principal Engineer at LBYD Engineers for 18 years. Mr. Robinson has focused on leading the industrial division of LBYD Engineers, designing facilities nationwide for clients such as GE, Mercedes, Toyota, Honda, and many others. Mr. Robinson earned his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Alabama in 1984 and earned his first Alabama Professional Engineering License in 1992. He maintains active professional engineering licenses in 25 states nationwide.
Mr. Robinson has been an active member of many professional societies previously holding positions including President of the National Council of Structural Engineers Association and President of the Structural Engineers Association of Alabama. Additionally, he remains active with code development participating in code hearings for the International Building Code on behalf of the Special Inspection Quality Assurance subcommittee of the National Council of Structural Engineers Association.
Mr. Robinson was officially sworn into the State of Alabama Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors on April 29, 2021.
