North Wind President Honored as Latina Women Entrepreneur of the Year
North Wind President Sylvia Medina was recently honored as the Latina Entrepreneur of the year. Medina received the award during a ceremony at the National Latina Symposium held September 9, in Washington DC. The award honors the accomplishments and achievements by Latinas in business, science, politics, education, sports, and the arts.
Medina was recognized for her leadership, business accomplishments, and commitment to the communities where North Wind is represented.
The national award, sponsored by the Anna Maria Aras Memorial Business Fund, was created in the name of Anna Maria Arias, the late founder and editor of LATINA style Magazine. Since its establishment in 2002, the Anna Maria Arias Memorial Business Fund, dedicated to the memory of Anna Maria Aras, has been the most respected and coveted business award program for Latina business owners.
“I am honored to receive this award in the spirit of Anna Maria Arias,” said Medina. “Her vision and passion served as an inspiration for all successful Latina entrepreneurs.”
Latinas in the United States are an economically and socially powerful sector of the United States population. There are over seven million Hispanic women in the workforce and Latinas represent the fastest growing segment of the small business community today.
