North Wind Joins 3rd Annual Small Business Saturday

The North Wind Group is supporting the third annual “Small Business Saturday” on November 24, 2012. Small Business Saturday is a day for dedicating a portion of holiday shopping to local, independently-owned small businesses.

American Express, the founding sponsor of Small Business Saturday, created the national program in 2010 to support small business. Public awareness of Small Business Saturday rose from 37% in 2010 to 65% in 2011, and elected officials in all 50 states championed Small Business Saturday.

North Wind recognizes the importance of small businesses, the jobs they create and the culture they instill in local communities. Small businesses have generated 64 percent of net new jobs over the past 15 years and employ just over half of all private sector employees, according to the Small Business Administration.

North Wind President, Sylvia Medina, noted that “small businesses are critical to a healthy economy and a strong community. North Wind is proud to support small businesses and to help promote Small Business Saturday.”

Idaho Falls Mayor Jared D. Fuhriman has proclaimed November 24, 2012 as Small Business Saturday for the City of Idaho Fall, noting that “small businesses are the backbone of our economy and the glue that holds communities together.”
