In 2010, North Wind was purchased by Cook Inlet Region, Inc. (CIRI), an Alaska Native Corporation. CIRI is one of 12 land-based Alaska Native regional corporations created by the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) of 1971 and benefits Alaska Native people who had ties to the Cook Inlet region and beyond.

CIRI is proudly owned by more than 9,100 shareholders, many of which of Alaska Native descent. CIRI’s Alaska Native shareholders represent a rich and diverse heritage, representing all Alaska Native cultures and regions of Alaska. Since inception, CIRI has paid over $1 billion in distributions and dividends to shareholders.

CIRI’s mission is to promote the economic and social well-being and Alaska Native heritage of its shareholders, now and into the future, through prudent stewardship of the company’s resources, while furthering self-sufficiency among CIRI shareholders and their families.
